Loved it! 😍

Beautiful, lyrical, raw and emotional. Kight uses glorious imagery to expound on the pain and heartache of mental illnesses.

Synopsis

This is a book of poetry about trauma, depression, and PTSD. This book is part of an effort to eliminate the stigma that surrounds mental illness and help people to seek treatment. The book will also help those who are curious about mental illness to learn more about it. This book also includes poetry in the Japanese style and original artwork.

Dark Recess of the Mind by Isaac Kight expounds on the pain and heartache of mental illnesses. Kight beautifully portrays in vulnerable verse the effects of trauma, anxiety, depression and PTSD.

This collection of poems speaks beautifully to those struggling with their mental health, as well as aids in spreading mental health awareness to those who are unfamiliar with these serious disorders. Though mental health is a sensitive and personal topic, Kight addresses these issues with a lyrical tone and rhythmic voice.

Kight is a master at imagery. A reader can appreciate his detail, passion and conviction in every line.

One of my favorite lyrical poems is entitled "Yellow."

He cleverly writes,

"Do you know mild yellow?
That deeply doleful Longfellow
Fancy rhymes does he bellow
In that tempo so cool and mellow
Deep and rhythmic like a cello
What is his longing no one can tell-no
That ever-mercurial mild yellow."

While he has many beautiful poems, my favorite stanza is from his poem, "I Wanted To."

He writes,

"I lived because I wanted to
The rhythm of life as I do
What changed for me today?
I wanted it to be this way"

I would recommend this to anyone who loves poetry or anyone struggling with mental illnesses. This speaks to the soul, with deep meaning in every piece. Kight's lyrical style reminds me a Percy B. Shelley. I thoroughly enjoyed Kight's book, Dark Recesses of the Mind.
