We are here to thrive so we must educate ourselves on human topics that affects/threatens our wellbeing and existence as humans.
I read this amazing book by Trevor Noah...Well I had been reading 📚 it since world book day
It's such a good read because:
1. If you've never had an insight of what apartheid and post-apartheid South Africa was like, then this book explains it so well (to be honest, I now have more understanding because nobody taught me this human history as a child so I decided to educate myself).
2. If like me you read it in Trevor's voice (the one he uses when he's doing stand up comedy or on the daily show with trevor noah ) then you're going to laugh so hard until you hit the ground. It's good to find humor in life irrespective of where you find yourself.
3. As a black woman and child once upon a time, I can relate to some of the experiences he shared as a person of colour growing up in Africa and around the world, and how these experiences can chape your view of the world.
This book all in all is well written, funny and relatable.
Lesson I took away: we all have shared experiences and for us all to thrive we must acknowledge the awful sides of history but forge ahead by educating ourselves on such topics so that we can come up with systems to improve the lives of others in our communities. Finally, learn to laugh through the struggles of life
A scientist, mom, and wife who studied psychology in college and has a Masters in Pharmaceutical Science. Until my 30s, I had struggled with my body image and now that I've overcome it, I want to share my tips with others. I also enjoy reading, discovering, and reviewing books.
