In a nutshell: deceitful love.
How well can we know the ones we love? How well do we know anyone? Those are the unanswerable questions behind Biography of X, a novel that blends an alternate history with one woman's quest to discover her wife's life story. The premise sold me, but the execution did not. A narcissistic dead lover. A deceitful love life. A woeful narrator who just won't let it go, and won't be honest with herself. Unable to connect with either woman and without character growth, this story fell flat with me.
