Great insight on the struggles trans people go through when they come out.
3/5 stars. Plot-wise it was a bit boring, but seeing Dean’s journey as he finds himself made up for it.
I think it gives us great insight on the struggles that trans people go through when they come out. How insensitive people can be without meaning to, how relationships don’t work despite trying so hard to keep them alive, how important it is to have a community of people who really understand and relate to what you are going through and help you accept yourself and stand up for yourself against bullies and people trying to bring you down for being different.
The ending was quite boring in my opinion. I would have liked to see where Dean will study or his mother finally accepting him completely or some kind of resolution to his animosity with Blake -it was weird that he just stopped bullying him all of a sudden, I think they should have talked.
All in all, it was a good book that really helped me understand better trans people struggles, fear and obstacles in life. I only wish the ending told us a little bit more about what happened to Dean and his future.
Still, I would totally recommend this book!
I've been an avid reader since I first learned how to read. Reading gives me the freedom to visit wonderful and breathtaking worlds and meet amazing characters from different backgrounds who help widen my perspective of the world we live in.
