With a squirrel and a tree as friends on her side, nothing can get in the way of Andi's twirls!
Each Dance-It-Out! story is a kids’ dance performance for the imagination stage. Andi’s Valentine Tree builds on previous Dance-It-Out! material and is ideal for ages 6+, dance students, or as a sequel to other stories.
Andi loves ballet and friends at the studio, but school is a different story. A squirrel named Lou and a remarkable tree provide much-needed comfort. Then something magically extraordinary makes life even better. A touching story celebrating the beauty of nature, embracing one’s own passions, and forgiveness.
Ballerina Konora joins the pages with dance photos and suggestions for movement exploration. Three books in one: readers can enjoy the story, act out the tale in their own way, or try Konora’s suggested activities, designed by an award-winning ballet teacher to develop body awareness and movement knowledge.
Andi is a loner at school and does not have any friends, but, anywhere she can dance – be it at the ballet studio or in the forest, Andi feels happy. While she does not have many friends, a squirrel named Lou keeps her company and defends her the best way it can, and she is about to make a very unique new friend – a tree!
However, when her classmates find out about her passion for dance and her friendship with the tree, Andi becomes the target of bullying that she will need the help of her two special friends to overcome.
The story could have used further development of both characters and events, but it is still sweet. It celebrates nature in a new way, making joyful human expressions part of what gives nature joy as well. It shows a realistic connection between children and the world around them; how we need nature and nature needs us.
The story also encourages children to remain true to their passions and the things they love no matter what others think of them.
Ballerina Konora tags along the pages of the book, teaching kids new moves that they can act out and add onto so they can bring the book to life on their own in their own way.
