Loved it! 😍

Family journey through poverty and learning in Central America turns interesting

When I received this book, per the author’s request, I had to laugh. A Chicken Bus? All I could think about was – yeah – there is bound to be an adventure for sure if you are on a bus with chickens.

Then I started reading it. Janet LoSole ,in her book, “Adventure by Chicken Bus – An UnSchooling Odyssey Through Central America”, gave readers an insider;s look at life in Central America.

Before I begin, I have to say there were a few very tiny glitches that a second round of editing would have cured, but it was in the processing from certain scenes where these were, and they were not serious enough to take away from the book as a whole.

The story revolved around a homeschooling field trip to Central America, and takes off on adventure after adventure living simply and calling the ‘road’ home. They sleep in a tent, save sea turtles, visit a monkey sanctuary and do a lot of hiking.

“Adventure by Chicken Bus” read like a travel journal – a very honest, detailed and personable one. LoSole’s conversational style of writing made this book an easy and appealing read.

The hurdles that the family faces during this journey, as well as the positive points, makes for a very poignant message – family is more important than things. And then there is the odd places they visit with very little money – and yet they find the most pleasure out of those places. Maybe the message is there about living simply and trying new things?

Not sure, but I do know I am glad I read it. I think this would be a good family book read for a homeschool association or even for a bunch of missionary kids who would probably relate to the encounters.

You can find it on Amazon – ironically. They traveled to Central American and were in their own “amazon.” Bad joke, but good book.
