AUGUST BREAK
At the soccer camp, newly enrolled kids were warmly welcomed and instructed on the schedule of the full program. They toured the facility and were addressed by the soccer camp director. The boys trained on the right side of the field, while the girls trained on the left. This was intended to minimize injuries as much as possible. “Hi! My name is Ada Okafor,” Ada said, after approaching the girls’ waiting bench and taking a seat. “What’s yours?” she asked a new teammate who just enrolled in the club with her big brother. Ada had sighted them at the registration tent earlier that morning as she was dropped off at the gate. Ada and her cousin Dare were early birds who had registered weeks before orientation.
