"Khaled Hosseini"- The name is enough but guess what the word count isn't.
"Like a compass needle that points north, a man's accusing finger always finds a woman. Always. You remember that, Mariam."
Thought-provoking, tearjerker and an endless fight for freedom this has been a complicated journey. A book of hope and life.
No matter how tough your life would be, reading Khaled Hosseini work will make you forget about all your sorrows and make you see how lucky you are able to breathe and have a roof over your head; a luxury for those who are living in Afghanistan.
The book is focuses on two women fifteen years apart, one who yearns for a family, other who is younger but more resolute and knowledgeable. Their circumstances led them to marry the same man even then their friendship grows amidst the blasts, brutality and starvation. Even in such trying times, love find its way and help overcome the most daunting obstacles with startling heroism.
If you have read the others books of the author and you are contemplating on whether this one would be equally good, just let me tell you this one is even better you'll be crying all along with the characters and this book will move you in your heart. Read this if you want to cry your heart out or want a break from corporate lifestyle or you just want to read a good book.
P.S Let me explain the brutality: Their is only one hospital for women and even in that hospital the basic facilities aren't available, the necessary medicines like anesthesia. Now a pregnant women is being cut open without the anesthesia and this isn't a rare case, it happens all the time. Just imagine their pain. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
I have always loved to read. Novels help me to enter into the world of imagination and I stay for all those emotions I get to feel during the journey of a book.
