Loved it! 😍

A Royal Pain is a witty, charming mystery that will keep you guessing until the very end.

Synopsis

Impoverished socialite Chloe Burke’s life had hit rock bottom when she accidentally saves a visiting prince from an assassination attempt. Getting shot in the bum turns out to be the best thing to happen to her in a long time, especially when the prince’s very handsome, very sexy bodyguard, Nicolai, comes to her aid.

Chloe feels something for Nico from the start, but she has a terrible secret. She isn’t the heroine everyone thinks she is, and, if the truth comes out, she’ll lose more than just Nico. She’ll lose everything.

Plot

The storyline of A Royal Pain is quite simple. The Queen of England asks Lady Georgiana Rannoch, a struggling royal relative, to host a Bavarian princess. Georgie concurs, but when a body is discovered in the bookstore where the princess is staying, things swiftly go wrong. Georgie quickly becomes involved in a murder investigation and must use all of her spying abilities to crack the case.

The story is intriguing and thrilling, and it has a few unexpected turns that will keep you guessing right up to the very end. The clues are carefully concealed, and the mystery is masterfully written. To figure out whodunit, I found myself paging through the book quickly.

Characters

A Royal Pain has likeable, well-developed characters. Georgie is a sympathetic heroine who is trying to figure out where she fits in. She is savvily independent, smart, and resourceful. She also tends to be a bit of a loner and has trouble trusting others. She tries to always do the right thing, but she is also nice and caring.

The book's other characters all have fascinating backstories and are well-developed. The Bavarian princess is a young woman who is anxious to travel and who is innocent and protected. She initially feels a little out of place in England, but she quickly adjusts.

Setting

A Royal Pain is a realistic and well-described environment. During the Great Depression in the 1930s, the book is set in England. I had the impression that I was in that time period while reading the book since the author did a fantastic job of bringing it to life.

Humor

The mystery novel A Royal Pain is clever and endearing. There are numerous laugh-out-loud moments in the book since the author has a talent for crafting amusing scenarios. Never forced, the humour aids in the narrative's progression.

Overall, A Royal Pain was a well-written and entertaining mystery, in my opinion. The narrative is interesting, the characters are well-rounded, and the scenery is well detailed. Fans of the genre should absolutely check it out, in my opinion.
