Loved it! 😍

Nicole Asherah’s *A Life Cycle* is a poetry one inspiring people and telling the story of the life cycle of grief and healing.

Synopsis

A Life Cycle follows the introspective process of transformation after emotional hardship through poetic language. It is broken into sections after a traumatic event that represents the final tipping point. What follows is The Shattering: a deep dive into the suffering of fully losing one’s sense of self and safety, The Healing: a journey through processing layers of trauma to reach the root hurts of childhood, Light Shines Through: an exploration of reigniting hope and learning to find joy, and The Loving: a discovery of what love is and how the act of loving has much more to do with one’s self than the person receiving the love.

A Life Cycle transcends the genre of poetry because of its ability to universally help people process and name feelings that often elude words. This book is for anyone developing, hurting, healing, or becoming new versions of themselves.

Nicole Asherah’s debut book, *A Life Cycle: A Guide to Healing and Rediscovering Yourself*, can be classified as a self-help book because of the advice given to the reader but is distinctive in its use of poetry.

It is also noteworthy that structurally, the book is very well-organized. Asherah’s story is divided into five sections of the narrative: a synopsis of the novel, the crisis, preparation, the climax, and resolution. There is nothing ambiguous with the first segments of the book; the first part, “The Shattering”, describes the pain and confusion of a traumatized person. Meanwhile, while moving through the book narrative, the perspective becomes more and more hopeful, the foundation laid in such sections like “The Loving” by speaking about restoration and self-care.

About emotions, Asherah has liberty to express herself in free verse and this makes her to express them freely. It also has a rather poetic style common for the post-avant-garde and employs enjambment as well as stream of consciousness style.

Most importantly, Asherah uses very descriptive and at the same time specific terms. Her metaphors and the descriptions make the reader keenly feel and even see the physical and psychological impacts of trauma, as well as the process of healing. For instance, when she pointed out “And the scales tipped just like I knew they would / Yet I still wasn’t prepared for the fall. ” in the chapter “The Shattering” This line like all the others in her book hits the hearts of every human being who went through the dint of one tragedy or the other.

Thus, the book can be described as both highly autobiographical and containing messages that are applicable to society. By examining viewpoints like Asherah’s, people of any age will find themes like self-esteem, endurance, and the centrality of love to the experience.

A possible weakness is that the poems are very intimate and sometimes they leave the reader with questions which may not apply to everyone or to more than one experience.

Overall, *A Life Cycle: Thus, ‘A Guide to Healing and Rediscovering Yourself*’ is an inspiring and touching book of poetry interspersed with self-help techniques. Readers can be sure that turning the pages of Nicole Asherah’s book will be helpful for healing and personal transformation with her empathetic tone and expressive writing style.
