A Hard Day for a Hangover: A Novel (Sunshine Vicram Series Book 3)

Author Darynda Jones is beyond words incredible, able to create humor out of the most bizarre set of circumstances. Unlike the other 2 books in the series, which more or less felt like a comic caper without letting us take anything seriously, A Hard Day For A Hangover had a lot more emotional connection. The romance between Levi and Sunshine is once again sizzling as is the norm for this author but it was all the action with a woman found assaulted in Cooper Canyon, a knitting needle incident, Levi’s uncle Wynn, escaping from prison, a break in, the raccoon in the police station, Sunshine’s daughter Auri conducting her own investigation, Sun trying to trap her father and find details about his past, her mom’s book club joining in for the ride, and to top it all, Levi and Sunhine and personal equation with Auri, that makes this one a HELLUVA experience. Darynda Jones ramps up the spice brilliantly with almost all the town’s quirky residents involved and Sunshine and her loving BFF aka Deputy Quincy have their hands and even legs full handling the myriad problems in Del Sol.

The cast of characters in this story are all adorable, each one of them having a special favor that it is hard to let go of. On one hand, I am sad that this series is ending but on the other hand, I do get that maybe there is not much to go forward with Sunshine’s story arc. The books are best read in order, to understand the crazy residents and their antics, the humor is crackling, and the snarky banter just about makes me go ROFL. This series has been my comfort read amongst all the thrillers and I would be happy to binge read them at a later date and have a ball.
