Wendy Leonard

Wendy Leonard – Editor

Self-employed Editor/Word Specialist. I am available for proofreading, editing, and/or formatting Word manuscripts to publisher specs.

Overview

My true love in the book writing process is the last step -- I am a Word expert and enjoy taking a rough manuscript to a higher level . I'll remove formatting problems, then add the required markings to generate an automatic Table of Contents, Table of Authorities, Index, and/or Bibliography, as required by the type of book you are writing. If your book could benefit from quotes or some graphics to break up the pages, I am happy to add those touches as well.

I am also very experienced with English grammar and punctuation following a 40-year career in legal offices and as a Court Reporter in Texas. During that time I added 12 years of home schooling two children to my daily routine (any of you who have recently been thrown into the role of home schooling mom or dad know what that involves!), meaning I taught grammar, composition, punctuation, and literature at two grade levels for 12 years. There's no better way to stay current than to teach!

For the past ten years, I have worked as a freelance writer. I have ghostwritten six books and hundreds of blogs. I have also created websites for several small businesses, including writing the text for the sites. I have also taken seven PDFs, converted them to Word, and then formatted them so the final product looked like one author had written the whole 550-page book, which contained graphics, charts, or pictures on every page. I regularly format legal reference books for a law firm in Florida.

In terms of websites, I am comfortable in Wix and WordPress and have worked with several other site builders.

The book writers I have assisted wrote in the areas of Christian business, home organization, legal, banking, health and nutrition, and natural medicine.

I like to think of myself as the true "team player." If I assist you, your book is my book. It gets the same attention I would give anything bearing my name as author. I like to work with someone who trusts me to make suggestions, although I like to share a redlined draft so you have the final say whether to accept a change or not. After all, I recognize your name will be in big letters on the cover, not mine :p)

I have given a description of my work experience above, so I won't repeat it here. As a ghostwriter, I do not have a portfolio to share because i don't have permission to divulge my involvement with the project. I was the ghostwriter for the book listed below, and I do have the author's permission to share that with you. My blog writing was also done under a ghostwriting format.
