I want to help you, to join you in creating a visual for your world through my illustrations. I love to create illustrations that capture a story, the quirkiness of a character or the details that make you want to know more of their past. The style I paint in has a realistic quality and I take care in working with details to give the piece a more realistic feel so that even if I am working with the most unfathomable of subject it feels as though it could really exist. My weapon of choice is watercolour but I often use pencil and inks within my work if I feel it is needed.
My primary interest within my work is fantasy, being inspired by things like LotR and actually starting to play D&D with friends. I thoroughly enjoy capturing the details of mythical creatures and interpreting what these creatures could look like. My strengths I feel fall into animals/creatures and portraits and with an interest in history (particularly vikings) my work is fuelled by the urge to adventure and explore and trying to capture a world not as we see it on the surface.
I can work with you to sketch ideas, review and eventually create illustrations; these could be for cover art, interiors of books, character pieces and promotional work. Basically helping you to visualise the world you are creating and draw others into that same experience. Through my artwork I understand how precious your projects can be, and I want to work with you to make sure we are creating a piece that fits your world, a world which you have probably visualised in your head for a long time.
For the past number of year I have been working within education and therefore the majority of my time has been taken up by that. Being passionate about my art I have worked as I can in my spare time to continue to improve my skills. All clients to date have been on a smaller scale for private commissions for book covers, interiors and illustrations. I have been asked to take part in multiple illustration competitions as well including Playing Arts and by the Royal Mint. I have recently decided I would like to invest my time in my illustrations now and give priority to that, this has given me a chance to take on more clients, continue to improve my skills and my style.
My work tends to split into two styles, one with the bleed effect like a vignette, the second as a more painterly book illustration style. I have received positivity on a range of elements of my work but the common elements are always the details and my ability with watercolour.
I look forward to working with you and bringing your project to life.
