Dog-ear Book Design provides professional book cover and book interior design and layout services to indie authors and small presses.

Overview

I love working with authors and small presses, creating beautiful cover designs for print and ebooks, print interior designs and formatted print books. I also provide ebook formatting, photo editing/compilation/manipulation and print on demand consulting.

I've been fortunate to work on both fiction and non-fiction titles from a diverse genre base, including young adult, paranormal, science fiction, new adult fiction, urban fiction, both fiction and non-fiction anthologies, memoirs, thrillers, historical non-fiction, instructional non-fiction . . . even a commemorative 50th anniversary book for a construction company.

A little about me
My official biography reads: “Valerie has worked for over twenty years as a graphic designer, production artist, print buyer and production/project manager in printing and advertising/marketing.”

Translation: I have spent twenty years on-the-job training with some of the most awesome and creative advertising, marketing and printing professionals in Canada.

My agency experience taught me the importance of branding and consistency. I learned the importance of attention to the smallest detail. I’ve learned I’m a bit of a details freak, so I’m naturally organized with my eye on the schedule. I strengthened these traits through development of my project management skills. I currently hold a Certified Associate of Project Management (CAPM) designation from the Project Management Institute.
