Overview

After earning degrees in English and journalism, Tom worked in public relations and publishing for government; two large community colleges; a major financial trade association; a mid-sized medical center; and a medical-device firm. In 2007, he formed Orange Street Editorial after talking with a consultant and writer who wished to explore how he might self-publish his next book, freeing himself from the income-limiting constraints of his traditional publishing contract. He turned over the reins to Tom while he finished writing his handbook on managing nonprofit organizations. Tom and his client completed that book, under the author's new publishing imprint, and have since collaborated on five others. In recent months, Tom has also worked as editor and book production coach with a variety of other professionals—ranging from an audiologist, a retired cardiologist, a successful government contractor, a small business owner, and a professional photographer. Tom's focus is to help subject matter experts create cost-effective books that reflect their passions and expertise. He strives to ground each project on a collaborative and mutually satisfying partnership between the author/publisher and editor.

Did I graduate from a prestigious university or paint the Mona Lisa? Nope. I learned about creativity by catching rats and writing newspaper ads for my pest control company. Hey, Leonardo da Vinci, I’d like to see you do that!
