Overview
Tekeyla Friday is a Métis Stop Motion Animation and Claymation Artist and Author. She has written as long as she could first hold a pen. She loves writing humour, fantasy, science fiction, and adventure stories that delight children and teens. She holds three diplomas in writing for children and teens through the Institute of Children’s Literature and a Book Publishing Certificate.
R.E.A.L Canadian Kids Magazine published Tekeyla’s first two stories, Kaidin and the Dragon and Princess Butterfly. She published her first picture book in 2014, Powers of the Archangel Michael, with Balboa Press.
She ghostwrites for other authors on and loves social media and using the many technological devices known to humans.
Tekeyla loves most creative activities, from writing scripts to inspirational poetry to performing puppet shows and painting.
She lives with her two cats in a small hamlet in Saskatchewan and loves the quiet country.
Tekeyla is most inspired by teaching early literacy skills to families to raise readers and encourage children to use their imagination.
Tekeyla has won the Leadership for Literacy and Best Family Literacy Program awards.
She is most grateful to the Saskatchewan Arts Board, Saskatchewan Lotteries and Sask Culture for their continuous support of her cultural art projects and upcoming film, Escape from Residential School.
