I love when clients tell me I captured their voice—and that it sounds better than ever. My background as a radio show host and interviewer helps, as do my insatiable curiosity, genuine interest in people and what inspires them, and my 25+ years as a professional writer, editor, and communication consultant.
To ensure I bring valuable insight and perspective to each project even before I do additional research, I focus on non-fiction books on subjects about which I have substantial knowledge. Broadly speaking, this includes personal and professional growth. More specifically, it includes emotional intelligence, leadership, workplace culture, mindfulness, health and wellness, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, spirituality, meditation, Buddhism, psychology, relationships, conscious media, natural foods and products, socially-responsible businesses, personal narrative, and memoir.
I have studied, researched, taken courses, interviewed people, worked or consulted on, and written about all of these topics, as well as all the genres I listed below. Depending on the employer, client, context, and role in which I was engaged, my writing has taken the form of proposals, programs, scripts, speeches, business plans, website text, marketing materials, white papers, and books.
In addition to the books included in my portfolio (with themes/genres of memoir, self-help, spirituality, psychology, emotional intelligence, and relationships), here are three books I'm currently working on, which will be released in 2018.
* I coauthored a book on women in leadership, which will be released in conjunction with International Women's Day in March 2018. (business, career, leadership, women, workplace culture, philanthropy)
* I am ghostwriting a book for a Buddhist monk. (spirituality, psychology, relationships, health and well-being, mindfulness, emotional intelligence)
* I've collaborated with a surgeon to create an illustrated guide for people with diabetes on how to prevent limb loss, which is an all-too-common side effect of the disease. (health and welness)
What a few clients have said ...
“This book would not have happened without my coauthor and editor Stacey Stern. … Stacey made sure that what I wanted from this book was and is exactly what I wanted AND so much more. She is my compass. … You always hear, ‘Be careful what you wish for since it might come true.’ I wished for someone who would help me deliver something that authentically captures me. To my delight, Stacey appeared.”

A Connector of Dots and People, I collaborate with bright individuals to do enlightened, impactful work. Over the past 30 years, I have done this in various ways—raising millions of dollars for social change and environmental protection; helping grow businesses; working with start-ups, entrepreneurs, non-profits, and foundations; providing communication and marketing expertise; creating and hosting a radio show about passion and joy in work and life; and writing and editing books about personal and professional growth.
Blending my personal and professional involvement in personal development, conscious media, and inspiring content, I created and hosted this radio show about passion and joy in work and life. Featuring lively interviews and intimate conversations with Academy Award-winning filmmakers, New York Times bestselling authors, business leaders, spiritual luminaries, and cultural progressives, I elicited fresh insight into what inspires these change makers and delivered their wisdom to an international audience. Drawn to Boulder for its natural and spiritual assets, I developed and managed the corporate giving program for The Nature Conservancy of Colorado, exceeding my budgetary goals each year. Tasked with launching a Corporate Alliance for the Environment program in Colorado, I attracted and landed 42 founding members in my first 6 months. Throughout my time with The Nature Conservancy, I deepened relationships with donors and prospective supporters.
Eager to more directly engage with top strategists on a range of social issues, I raised several million dollars for this constitutional liberties organization by managing their foundation, corporate, and union fundraising operations and budgets. Working closely with senior staff, I relished the intellectually stimulating conversations about current social issues and the collaborative process of refining programs and developing new initiatives to address inequities. I wrote and marketed proposals and continually nurtured, cultivated, and expanded donor relationships.
I directed teams of writers and graphic designers to produce a variety of publications for multimillion-dollar contracts with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. Putting my organizational skills to work, I created and managed production schedules and budgets for handbooks, resource guides, newsletters, and brochures. Flexing my detail-oriented muscles, I researched, wrote, edited, and marketed publications.
