Sophie Paas-Lang

Sophie Paas-Lang – Designer

I am an award-winning designer and illustrator, specializing in colorful book cover design, illustration, and typesetting.

Overview

Before I was a book designer, I was a reader. I’ve always loved books, and becoming a book designer was a perfect way for me to combine my passion for art and design with my passion for literature. Today, I get to read a LOT of manuscripts as a part of my job! I enjoy working collaboratively with authors to bring their vision to life, and hope to surprise them with new ideas that may not have occurred to them before. In addition to creating book covers, I am also a speedy interior typesetter, whether it be a novel or a more complex textbook or art book. I bring the same care and detail into my layouts as I do my covers.

A book cover is not just a visual representation of what’s inside your book — it is also a vital marketing asset, serving to draw in new readers and sell the book. It needs to be creative, original and stand apart on the shelf or digital marketplace. As a designer, I will be able to help you to have a cover that will reach its target audience and reflect the quality and care that you’ve put into your project. One of the best ways to have a totally unique cover is through illustration. I have worked as an illustrator for many years, and my work has appeared in editorial magazines, in marketing campaigns and, of course, on books! Illustration can help achieve the high quality polish that your book deserves.

Please send a message if you are interested in working with me! I look forward to hearing about your book and to working together.
