Overview
Content that fails to engage the reader also fails its purpose to inform, educate, or entertain. With that mantra in mind, I offer substantive editing, which combines developmental, content, and copy editing for comprehensive improvement of written material. My entire goal is to improve the quality of your writing so that it engages the reader. To do this, I will:
* Correct errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar, syntax, and sentence structure;
* Strengthen weak writing, tighten flabby prose, and clarify awkward phrases;
* Identify plot holes (fiction), discrepancies, inconsistencies, redundancies, and other flaws for remediation; and,
* Suggest improvements where appropriate to enhance reader comprehension and engagement.
All corrections, changes, and suggestions will be shown in the returned files via in-line corrections and revisions as well as margin comments.
Should you need your document formatted for publication, I have experience with that, too. I have worked on magazines, catalogs, event programs, and signs. I work in Adobe InDesign, which is the standard professional software for document design and can accommodate the most precise of page specifications.
