Sarah Kapit

Sarah Kapit – Editor

Specializing in Middle-Grade and Young Adult Literature, I provide insightful comments and can help you on the path to publication.

Overview

Getting from a draft to a published book is a major--and sometimes frustrating--task. I can help you tackle the revision process by providing an honest assessment of your manuscript and submission materials. Whether you want a second set of eyes on your work before querying or plan to self-publish, I can help.

ABOUT ME:

I am an award-winning author published by Macmillan and Penguin Random House. Since 2020, I have published three middle-grade novels, with more coming. My novels have received starred reviews from major trade journals, YALSA recognition, and have been selected as Junior Library Guild titles.

Additionally, I am an experienced editor. I have mentored several authors through the process of revising their work and querying. Several of these authors are now agented and published. I have also been hired by major publishing houses to provide authenticity reads. I have provided feedback for works that have gone on to receive acclaim and award recognition.

HOW I WORK:

When I begin work with an author, I learn more about where you are in the process and how I can help. Then, I will review your work for big-picture concerns such as structure, voice, worldbuilding, and character. I typically provide an edit letter, broken into sections so that it's easier to digest. My work does not end there. I like to talk through the edit letter with clients so that we can brainstorm together and develop a road map for revisions.

If I am providing line edits to your work, you can count on my comments being constructive and specific. I want to help you to write the book of your heart.
