Overview

I have qualifications in proofreading and copyediting from the UK's Publishing Training Centre and I proofread and copyedit books mainly for academic and educational publishers such as Edward Elgar, Pearson Education, OUP, Taylor & Francis and Imperial College Press, as well as via editorial project management companies such as Swales & Willis, 4Word and HWA (for publishers including I.B. Tauris and Learning Matters). I also have a particular interest in books in the travel and tourism field as, prior to setting up as a freelance proofreader and copy editor, I spent many years working in the travel industry where I was involved in copywriting, editing and proofreading brochures and other promotional material.

I know that when you are closely involved with your manuscript and when you have read your own work many times over it is easy to miss errors. My job is therefore to be a second pair of eyes, paying great attention to detail whilst copyediting or proofreading your work, checking for grammatical and spelling errors, ensuring consistency of style, voice and layout and helping to give your work a final polish.
