Overview
My purpose is to help clients whip their manuscripts into the tightest shape possible so that their books most sharply and clearly reflect the books they have inside them, the books they believe in, the books they feel compelled to write. I'm here to help you tell your story in the most effective, true-to-you way.
I am an intuitive, close reader --- that is, I read for intentionality, and how you might best realize your intentionality on the page. While I'm fiercely anti-prescriptive, you'll probably find I'm a "pusher"; that is, I specialize in taking writing that is already leaning on natural narrative strengths, (and perhaps, therefore, may exist within a construct of "safety") and pushing it a bit further out of its comfort zone, to a next level of urgency/discovery/skin in the game. My editorial style is a mix of merciless and generous. I am honest in my approach and shoot from the hip, but I always come from a place of openness, integrity, and love.
I provide macro, "big picture" reads, as well as micro edits, or a combo of the two, depending on client needs. In terms of feedback, you can choose whether you want written notes or if you would rather talk things through by phone or on zoom, or some kind of mix.
