Rebecca Bush – Editor

Development editor with a reader's head and a commercial eye, I specialise in personal and career development content.

Overview

I love all things development - whether this is practical content on how to write a good CV and progress in your career, or more esoteric self-help content about how to have a happy and healthy life, personal and professional development is my special interest. I believe that a positive working relationship is the key to making the best book a book can be - but don't just take my word for it! Here are some things that authors I have worked with have said about me:

"Rebecca was my commissioning editor in my capacity as author of 'Get a Life! Creating a Successful Work-Life Balance' (2020). Having published books with three alternative publishing houses previously, I can honestly say that working with Rebecca was a dream and by far the best author/publisher experience. She provided expert, timely and professional guidance, advice and support throughout, all of which warranted a well-deserved 'special mention' in my Acknowledgements. Recruiting Rebecca would be a major coup for any publisher and I know she would contribute significantly to future successes in the publishing world." - Rick Hughes, author of Get A Life!

"Rebecca worked as the commissioning editor for my book on resilience, Bounce Back, how to fail fast and be resilient at work. She brought the idea to me and worked with creativity, dedication and wisdom to edit the book and guide me through the process. Always insightful, patient and knowledgeable I couldn't have had a better experience with her. Her clarity and guidance were so valuable. I recommend her highly as a professional and as a highly principled and kind individual, with a bright mind and great talent." - Dr Susan Kahn, author of Bounce Back

"Rebecca is outstanding at what she does, and in my experience represents the best characteristics of the publishing world. She brought me back in to do a second edition (which I wouldn’t have considered before she arrived), and managed relationships incredibly well at every point. She is also wonderful on the editing front, with a talent for understanding the author's voice to create a quality piece that readers love. Working with Rebecca is by far the best editing experience I've had. I’d recommend her to both publishers and other authors in an instant, and would be delighted to work with her again." - Marianne Cantwell, author of Be A Free Range Human

"Excellent editor with whom I've worked on Kogan Page's Good Retirement Guide. I cannot recommend Rebecca highly enough for her insight and informed guidance that enhances the end result, even while working to tight space and cost constraints. From a writer's perspective, I have complete trust in Rebecca's judgement and, with her creative, positive outlook, she is a joy to collaborate with." - Jonquil Lowe, editor of The Good Retirement Guide 2020

Rebecca is a real advocate for the reader and she helped me see my work differently. She was insightful, creative, thorough, and delivered on time despite some unforeseen obstacles. What I appreciated most was, the tactful way in which she got me to strip back my words and do more with less. As a first time author I knew that was going to be hard but it didn't feel too bad.
