I’m an editor and literary arts administrator—basically, I work to support writers and writing professionals from both the editorial and administrative sides.
In my freelance editorial work, I focus on copy- and substantive editing. I work regularly in genre fiction and translation and pride myself on catching continuity errors, anachronisms, timeline issues, and instances of accidental bias in addition to addressing grammar and mechanics.
My nonfiction work tends to be more strictly copyediting and content management; I specialize in craft books, nonprofit communications, and online and app-based corporate content management.
I'm also a cofounder and editor at Northwest Essay (northwestessay.com), a personal statement essay editing service used by potential undergrad and grad students when preparing their personal statements and college applications.
When I'm not deep into Track Changes on a manuscript, you can find me working with the Northwest Independent Editors Guild, of which I am the board president (edsguild.org), and Poetry Northwest, of which I am managing editor (poetrynw.org). I also worked for eleven years in fundraising and arts administration, including as the development director at Seattle's literary arts center, Hugo House (hugohouse.org), and as cofounding managing director of Seattle City of Literature (seattlecityoflit.org), a nonprofit dedicated to Seattle's effort to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a City of Literature.

I copyedit a variety of projects as a freelancer: fiction and nonfiction manuscripts, crafting kits, and corporate and nonprofit communications. Clients include Girl Friday Productions/Amazon.com, Sasquatch Books, becker&mayer! Book Producers, udu, Ookla, and many individuals and self-publishing authors.
Northwest Essay is an affordable, quick option for personal statement editing services for potential undergraduate and graduate students working on their applications. In addition to providing substantive editing and copyediting on essays, I also handle the business administration, including website management, business licensing and taxes, and business development opportunities.
I’ve spent the last decade working (and volunteering) for arts organizations, raising several million dollars in the process and setting up countless administrative and program-tracking systems. Because of my passion for the crafts of writing and editing, I’ve focused mainly on companies that support and provide opportunities for writers—in fact, I’ve found that supporting writers in an administrative capacity is remarkably similar to supporting them in an editorial one!
