Nicole Corse – Editor

I'm a collaborative Editor who has spent over 10 years working with brands from Disney to Mattel and LEGO

Overview

I've been a book editor for over 10 years specializing in children's books. I began my career in the Manhattan publishing scene at Penguin and Scholastic. Then I moved out to Los Angeles and worked at Disney and Mattel.

I've worked on publishing products for the following brands: Frozen, Disney Princess, LEGO (City, Friends, DC, and Ninjago), NFL, NBA, Littlest Pet Shop, Power Rangers, Jurassic World, Phineas and Ferb, Gravity Falls, Fisher Price, Hot Wheels, Barbie, Monster High, Ever After High, and more.

Throughout my ten years experience I've learned how to bring out the best in a writer's story, and I know a good one when I see it. As a freelance writer myself, I understand how vulnerable writing can make someone feel and how important it is for an editor to communicate effectively with a writer. I approach my editing with kindness, offer multiple suggestions and solutions, and make sure the story reaches its fullest potential.

Work experience

Mattel

Jan, 2014 — Apr, 2017 (about 3 years)

At Mattel, I oversaw the execution of the global publishing programs for Monster High, Ever After High, Hot Wheels, and Fisher Price. I developed publishing assets including content bibles for a variety of publishers around the world. I was also the lead on transmedia narratives, ensuring product, entertainment, and publishing stories aligned. The majority of my focus was on the Ever After High and Monster High middle grade and YA series from Little Brown.

Disney

Jul, 2012 — Dec, 2013 (over 1 year)

After five years at Scholastic, I moved to the West Coast to work for Disney. I was originally hired to oversee Disney Channel publishing, however my role quickly expanded to cover Pixar, Disney Animation, Disney Princess, and more. During that time, I was fortunate enough to work on the publishing program for Frozen with the Disney Animation Studios team. One of my favorite projects I edited was Zendaya’s Between U and Me, an advice book for tweens.

Scholastic
