Grumpyboy Studios – Designer

Hey there! I’m Nick Guarracino, illustrator and designer that works under the name Grumpyboy. Nice to meet you! A bit about me: I’ve been working as an artist, designer, and illustrator for over 20 years. I’ve worked on a dozen published titles, as well as work for Disney, CTW and Highlights magazine. 


Much of my recent work has been for book series like Kat McGee for In This Together Media (look for her on Amazon or just search my name in the Books category to see my titles). They publish titles with a focus on empowering girls and young women. I work in a hybrid style that I’ve developed over the years. 


I was trained in the traditional techniques but I’m equally adept at digital work. I usually work up my line art in pencil and do final renderings on the computer, adding color and effects digitally. The result is a fairly unique style that still feels organic and emotional, and harkens back to the work of artists past who’ve inspired me in this field.
