Overview

"Wow! Thank you for boiling that phrasing down to the core. It's what should have been written in the first place."

"Monica is a whip-smart professional who understands projects from the big picture down to the fine details. She is thoroughly dedicated and conducts herself with integrity and authenticity. As a very talented editor and writer, her skill set has both breadth and depth. She is the only writing professional I recommend to my clients."

I come to editing through my own experience as a reader and writer and writing teacher. I understand that writing is hard, but the editing process should not be. As your editor, my role is to see what you can't see from the structural to the sentence level so your writing can say what you want it to say to the people you want to hear it. Nonfiction writing has special demands for clarity that I can bring to your writing while maintaining your voice and authenticity.

I've worked on worked on manuscripts on a wide variety topics and bring the same desire to understand the needs of the particular author and reader to each project. I look forward to working with you to make the impact you want to make.

I have an MA and certificated in professional editing from UC Berkeley. I work with self-publishing authors from draft to published book as well as with authors working through traditional and small publishing channels. And yes, I love gigantic dogs!
