I am a white middle aged, single male. I have had three major careers in my life, the first being a member of the US Coast Guard, then after leaving the service in the late 80s, I returned to college, completed my BA in Political Science from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio and then went on to serving as an Adult Felony Probation Officer in the state of Florida and again later in Ohio. I left that career to start working as a staff writer for a chain of "community newspapers" in the suburbs of Dayton, Ohio and after several changes in ownership, I became a freelance stringer for several papers including the Dayton Daily News. I have not written professionally now in about four or five years at least, but still do writing for my own purposes and starting next June (2016) I will begin attending the low residency MFA program at Sewanee University in Sewanee, Tennessee. I am going to obtain an MFA in Creative Writing, focusing on Non-Fiction.
