Overview

Hello, I have 13 years of experience as a freelance writer, copyeditor and proofreader. Prior to becoming a freelancer I worked in-house at Bloomsbury Plc in the natural history department, and then as sub-editor on Birdwatch magazine and Runner's World magazine. In my freelance career I have worked on titles across a range of genres, including fiction for adults and children, natural history, science, sport and nature, and non-fiction children's picture books on various subjects.

I think that my experience as an author, working with some excellent editorial teams at a range of publishing houses, gives me a special insight when I'm working on the 'other side'. When I'm working on a title as a freelance editor or proofreader, I approach your book with the same care, sensitivity and rigorous attention to detail that I hope will be brought to my own writing. Thanks to my time working in-house, I have a full knowledge of the publishing process from all angles.

Over the last 13 years I have copyedited and proofread books for Bloomsbury Plc, New Holland, Bradt, Wild Nature Press, Buster Books and more. I've also been asked to take on various more random editorial tasks, such as fact-checking, which is always fun. I am happy to consider any and all editorial work and my work-juggling skills mean that I am usually in a position to complete tasks at fairly short notice. My favourite topics are all things concerned with wildlife and the natural world but I am also knowledgeable about most aspects of science and also health and fitness, sport and geography. I love working on fiction titles as well.
