Born and raised in Chicago, Lisa's love for horror began at a young age. Her father was passionate about horror movies and took a keen interest in special effects. So that Lisa and her siblings could enjoy the movies with him, he'd sit up late at night painstakingly "editing" the explicit adult scenes. Afterwards, they'd sit and listen as their Dad explained the magic of how effects were achieved. When other kids dressed as cartoon, kid friendly costumes for Halloween, Lisa made homemade costumes to pay homage to classics like "Bride of Frankenstein". Thanks to creative parents, her mother also having a passion for artistic expression and interior decorating, Lisa was encouraged to read, write and to act in homemade skits used to entertain themselves, family and close friends.
Before eBay and the convenience of shopping online, Lisa helped her parents in their new business, MICKEY'S TOYS AND COLLECTIBLES, which featured a line up of hard to find Godzilla items, and a plethora of other sci-fi, and horror treasures! Lisa finally settled into her own love of horror when she began to write and used it as a tool to cope with her depression, her father's terminal illness, and her issues with anxiety. In 1996, she created a blog to put up her short stories, and when the interest grew, gathered the courage to publish her debut novella, The Unsaintly. Lisa also dabbled in graphic design, and having gained the attention of other authors, her designs can be found floating around the Indie authors' playground.
Lisa currently resides in Houston, Tx with her Brady Bunch sized family and menagerie of pets. She works for the Horror Writer's Association as the Publisher's Liaison, Burning Willow Press as the Head of the Graphic Design Department, Public Relations for Zombiepalooza, has her own magazine debuting in November 2015 (Inked Muse Press Magazine) and moonlights by day as an Executive Assistant.
