I'm an editor and writer with two areas of specialization: Everything about animals, from wildlife to the science of dog behavior; and content related to Japan, including language, culture, and genre fiction.
I edit translated Japanese light novels for J-Novel Club, copyedited a forthcoming guidebook to Tokyo for Stone Bridge Press, edit a blog for a taiko drum teacher, and wrote and edited for Tofugu, a website about Japanese language and culture. I've also written about Japanese travel and culture for outlets including the Associated Press and. I run a Twitter feed about Japanese folklore, Yokai Parade. I also specialize in writing about animals. I was pets columnist for the Associated Press and my work has appeared on websites including National Geographic and Fear Free Pets and in magazines including The Bark and Happy Paws. I'm the author of two nonfiction books about animals and a mystery set at a zoo.
I'd love to work with you on your genre fiction or nonfiction in either of my areas of specialization. Got a petsitter mystery? A fantasy inspired by anime and manga? A travel narrative of your walk across Hokkaido or a memoir of your year teaching English abroad? A book about your love for reptiles or your career as a dog trainer? I'm your woman.
If you're working on nonfiction, I've also written successful nonfiction book proposals and can help you with that. I have experience working with writers who speak English as a second language.
