Linda G. Hatton - Editor

Los Angeles County, CA, United States

A dedicated editor experienced with a range of genres, and offering everything from developmental editing to proofreading.

Overview

Whether you want detailed editing assistance, help with a general project overview such as story line inconsistencies, or proofreading, I can tailor my services to fit the needs of any client. My virtual office allows me to work with anyone worldwide and to offer affordable per page or per hour rates.

As an independent contractor, I have experience book editing for individual clients as well as for book publishers Fountain Blue Publishing and Archangel Ink. I also have experience editing app content for FlinkTO.

I have nearly four years of experience as managing editor of Mouse Tales Press and my education includes a copyediting certification from University of California, San Diego, as well as classes in developmental editing and book mapping, and poetry, short story, screenplay, and novel writing, including middle grade and young adult genres.

Both my theatrical background and my education in acting from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts have given me a good understanding of character development.

Additionally, as a founding member of the online writing community Wordsmith Studio, I assisted in the development of the site by serving on the steering committee during its inaugural year.

I enjoy working with writers at all craft levels. I look forward to speaking with you about your project.

TESTIMONIALS
"Linda Hatton—if you are looking for an editor, run to this woman! While editing inside the box, she thinks outside the box. Linda does a terrific job: maintaining a writer's style, correcting grammar and punctuation, suggesting alternatives, meeting deadlines, and staying on budget!"
-C.A. Nichols
Author of EmbraceEmbarkEvolve; Inspirations, Guidance, and Humor to help you fight through your cancer journey!

"With a perfectly balanced palette of skills, both meticulously and creatively toned, Linda's editing brush found the mismatched shades of color my eyes had missed, and brightened the highlights on each and every page of my manuscript. I can't even begin to speak highly enough of her helpful nature and obvious passion for words. Her concern for keeping my story true to my vision, while helping me to see where my words had stumbled from the path, made for a perfect, painless, and wonderful collaboration."
-Greg Dubuque

"Linda provides editing services for Fountain Blue Publishing. I find her work to be thorough and impeccable. She is detail oriented and knows her way around with a red pen. I would recommend Linda to any author who wants to take their draft manuscript and turn it into a polished piece of work."
-Melanie Fountain
Fountain Blue Publishing, Editor in Chief/Owner

"As a fairly new fiction writer, I find that submitting work for others to read is one of the hardest parts. It is hard to hand over your "baby" and have someone hand it back, holding their nose. So, it was with trepidation that I handed over one of my stories to Linda G. Hatton for editing. I am sorry that I wasted the time worrying about it. Linda was so incredibly good and positive. All of her suggested changes were not only helpful but done in a way that made me feel like we were a team. It was a great experience working with her."
