Kiffin Steurer – Editor

I'm a thirteen-year-veteran in children's publishing as both an editor and production editor. My work is inspired by my two children.

Overview

I've been a production editor—proofreading and copyediting manuscripts and cover copy, creating schedules, among other things—for the last 13 years for some of the top publishers in the children's book industry (HarperCollins Children's Books, Scholastic Books, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Books for Young Readers/Clarion Books), as well as a freelance copyeditor and proofreader for Random House Children's Books, Penguin Young Readers' Group, and Macmillan Children's Books.

I copyedit manuscripts for spelling and grammar errors, consistency, and overall story development. I also proofread typeset first passes against the manuscript to make sure all changes were made correctly and that errors weren't introduced.

Just to be clear, I'm not a ghostwriter or a copywriter. I'm merely ensuring that your manuscript is error free and ready for submission/publication.
If your manuscript if science fiction or fantasy, I’m probably not the best fit for your project. Middle-grade fiction and reality-based young adult novels are more my forte.

Some of the projects I've worked on are GOODBYE STRANGER by Rebecca Stead, FUZZY MUD by Louis Sachar, and PAY ATTENTION, CARTER JONES by Gary D. Schmidt.
