Kate Stephenson

Kate Stephenson – Editor

Editor who approaches work as a holy calling to assist authors in accessing their unique voice and boldly speaking their personal truth.

Overview

I am a publishing professional, providing comprehensive editing, supplemental and ghost writing, and author consulting services to ensure your manuscript transforms from an idea in your head to a compelling book in reader's hands. I founded KEMPS Consulting, a boutique communications firm, on the principal of personalized, one-on-one, client interaction. KEMPS resists the mass production movement, instead offering tailored solutions to meet our authors’ specific needs.

I have worked with corporate publishers, indie presses, and individual authors, both self and traditionally published, to create a consistent, compelling voice that connects with and inspires readers. I’m on a mission to write a new world, one brave and inspiring story at a time. I believe it is a holy calling, and I honor that with an honest spirit of integrity and a healthy dose of gumption. I want to support my clients in leaning into their dreams and discovering their unique voices. There is too much in the world that silences our hopes—fear, judgment, conformity—and I want to help people let those things go to speak their own personal truth.

A decade in business has taught me the key to quality service: I take the time to listen to you and understand your objectives. I do not use templates or boiler plates; there is no one-size-fits-all or paint-by-numbers method here. I take pride in working one-on-one with you, encouraging your development, to shape your project to surpass your original vision. Grounded in strong customer service principles, I will always respect your time, your voice and your process.

Self-employed

Apr, 2006 — Present

In April 2006, I founded KEMPS Consulting, a virtual company, based in the NY metro area, serving clients around the United States and abroad with the highest quality writing and editing services. I have worked with publishing houses, business enterprises, and individual patrons to achieve one common goal--clear, captivating communication. Those efforts have been rewarded with over a decade of earned trust and client loyalty.

I established KEMPS on the principal of personalized, one-on-one client care. We resist the mass production movement, instead offering tailored solutions and services to meet your specific needs. We provide a full suite of solutions:

* Author Solutions, coaching indie and traditional authors through the entire publishing process, providing the assistance and pratical advice you need where you are to accomplish your specific goals.
* Editorial Development, molding written materials into polished, professional presentations that are audience ready and audience worthy.
* Ghost and Supplemental Writing, crafting writing in your tone and voice to complete the project that you simply don't have the time or the patience to finish.
