Jorge Enrique Ponce – Designer

Born and raised in Lima, Peru*, as a kid I spent every waking moment either drawing, or with my head buried inside a book. Just a bud, I learned what makes a character truly breathe life onto the page, and the wonders of duality and subtext. Since then I’ve dedicated my life to storytelling, studying books such as Joseph Campbell’s “The Hero With A Thousand Faces”, “The Writer’s Journey”, and “The Art of Dramatic Writing”, among others, and drawing with maddening fervor every single day. I graduated from SCAD with a BFA in 2006 and have been making art ever since.

My goal: to create a harmonious marriage between character/story and the visual/illustration design. It's when these work together that stories come through much stronger (just take a look at Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake).

Every story is different, and every creator is different. Each character has its own distinct personality, and therefore should be approached with an open mind, and not forced into a cookie-cutter. Both new and seasoned writers will appreciate my variety in styles and accessible fees :]
