Overview
*I offer in-depth developmental sessions for the author who is just starting a new project and doesn't necessarily have a book to be edited. These consist of one (1) hour conferences once a week (or two 30-minute sessions each week), where we will work on developing the plot, characters, and settings. From there, we will work together to develop an outline that will be instrumental in the author being able to write their novel, while staying on track!
*For an author who has a completed manuscript in which needs developmental editing, the initial round will consist of a story edit. The story edit will focus on things such as: pacing, structure, tone, readability, plot holes, etc. I'll work with you to fix any integral errors that may be hindering your manuscript, such as character development, plot devises not being used properly, etc.
The second round will be a copy edit where all changes will be re-evaluated. In this round, your manuscript will also be edited for grammatical and punctuation errors.
*If you are just looking for someone who can assist in putting together a concise outline, that is something we can do. While this option does not include any conferences, there will be continuous communication while we iron out the details of your outline.
*Copy editing includes two in-depth rounds.
*Proofreading is available to go through looking at grammar, punctuation, and formatting inconsistencies - we suggest only selecting this option after you have formatted your book for publication.

Work experience
Self-employed
In 2013 I began freelance editing. When going through a book I look for punctuation, grammar, and inconsistencies. Along with these basic core elements, I also look for overused word choices, for ways to clean up the manuscript either as a whole or the actual word structure.
My job is to make your book be the best book it can be, even if that means completely rearranging sentences, paragraphs, chapters, etc. But don't worry, everything is done with track changes on, so that the author can see where things were moved from so they can judge for himself/herself on how the story flows and progresses with the changes compared to prior.
But my work doesn't end there! Once the book is back in the author's hands, my job still continues. I work with the author while the changes are being implemented, and help facilitate how the suggested changes could be made and explaining my reasoning for my suggestions.
Aside from editing completed manuscripts, I also have worked with writers on incomplete manuscripts or even just ideas! In developmental editing, we work together to build outlines, character profiles, and then the plot structure.
I've also worked with authors on creating marketing strategies and creating marketing plans.
While at this time I do not offer custom cover design, I do have pre-made covers available.
Booktrope
I worked as an editor and project manager for the publisher Booktrope, until its closure in 2016. There I was responsible for overseeing the production schedule and making sure the authors I was working with, along with the rest of their teams, were on schedule for publication. Part of my job was to assist the authors in creating marketing strategies.
As an editor I worked with authors to maximize the impact of their words upon readers. It was important that their words were concise and clear, while also shaping the world the author was creating. I worked with authors who needed a wide range of editing from proofreading to developmental editing.
