Overview
I have a passion for taking the written word and making it sparkle. From blog posts to book manuscripts, I review them all. My services are designed to do two things. One, I find errors which require correction. Two, I make suggestions as to changes that would improve the flow of your work, clarify your meaning, or communicate to your audience more effectively. I am always happy to discuss my thought process with you. If I see an error or something I think could be improved upon, I'll point it out. For instance, if I'm proofreading, I'll catch those small mistakes for you, but I'll also point out where a sentence might need to be reworked to flow better, or where you called a character by one name in chapter three but by a different name in chapter eight.
I am currently serving as a freelance editor for Baylor University Press, editing non-fiction theological manuscripts. I am also a contract writer for Gateway Publishing. While I am relatively new to the field of proofreading and editing in a formal capacity, I have had many opportunities to hone my abilities over the course of my legal career. I've been privileged to review fiction manuscripts, legal documents, academic articles, blog posts, and graduate admission essays, among other things. The people I have worked with were pleased with what I was able to do for them, as their comments indicate:
"Lisa found errors in my novella that twenty other early readers missed! She shared her critique in a positive, helpful way. " - Carol Beth Anderson
"Lisa is my go-to typo and final quality assurance editor for every one of my books. I would not dream of releasing a book without her! She finds all the small details that my brain somehow seems to miss, and can motor through a book quickly and efficiently. I cannot recommend her enough to anyone seeking editing help!" - S. Usher Evans
"Lisa not only finds the grammatical mistakes that are common in my writing, but also notices those sentences that just need some tweaking. Her ability to understand the meaning behind what I am writing and thus make suggestions that are helpful and powerful is an essential tool to my success as a writer. " - Kelli L. Moore
I received my Bachelor of Arts in English from Baylor University and my Juris Doctorate from Baylor Law School. My educational and work experience has required that I proofread both my work and that of others. I'm also a Silver member of The Christian PEN Proofreaders and Editors Network. I'm committed to continuing to learn and improve so I can provide you with the best service possible. It is my joy to help you polish your work to perfection. Thank you for trusting me to assist you.
