Gloria Mulvihill

Gloria Mulvihill – Editor

I'm a freelance editor with a master's in book publishing from Portland State University that specializes in copy and developmental editing.

Overview

I like to think of myself as a creative soul with a logical mind.

As a graduate from Portland State University’s master’s in book publishing program, I have first-hand experience working within a publishing house. I was tasked with everything from copyediting, developmental editing, proofreading, and marketing/publicity. My biggest strengths are in editing, specifically copyediting and developmental editing. I was part of the editing team for The Ocean in My Ears by Meagan Macvie, At the Waterline by Brian K. Friesen, and Three Sides Water by Peter Donahue. I was part of the acquisitions and developmental editing team for Sleeping in My Jeans by Connie King Leonard.

After graduation, I struck out as a freelancer and found work with providing copyediting services. I also collaborated on a couple research papers that were published in Publishing Research Quarterly and am currently working on a third paper with a partner.

My newest project is perhaps one of the biggest and most exciting, as it involves a complete rewrite of a book from the 1950s—The Popular Book by James D. Hart. Myself along with a former professor and a team of other talented editors and writers are reimagining this book for modern times and will be pitching it to Ooligan Press in spring of 2021.

I’d love to be a part of your creative process. Whether you’re still fiddling with a rough draft and in need of some direction or ready to make a pitch and need that final copyedit, I am here to provide the absolute best I have to make your ideas a reality.
