Overview

I am the former Commissioning Editor for award-winning business books publisher Kogan Page. I managed their general trade list and commissioned and developed books across subjects like leadership, management, business stories, new technologies, career development and self-help, many of which won industry awards, critical acclaim and reached bestselling lists.

Some of my books won for example:
1. the 2019 Best Business Book of the Year Award (The Leadership Lab by Chris Lewis and Pippa Malmgren)
2. the 2019 CMI Management Book of the Year Aspiring Leader Award (Myths of Leadership by Jo Owen)
3. the 2020 Distinguished Favourite Independent Press Award (Humanity Works by Alexandra Levit)
4. One of The Financial Times' Best Business Books of the Summer 2021 (Demanding More by Sheree Atcheson)

I know good business books, what sells and what will get attention of the press!

I offer:
- full proposal feedback and developmental services, making sure you feel confident pitching to commissioning editors
- one-on-one book writing coaching; I'm here to hold your hand when the going gets tough (and it will!)
- full manuscript developmental feedback with annotated chapters and track changes

My authors have lovely things to say about me and the experience of working with me:

"I don’t profess to have a lot of experience in choosing an editor so I consider myself very lucky to have landed in Géraldine’s hands. I would sum up her approach as reassuring, positive and constructive. At every turn of the journey we took together, from the commissioning stage through to publication of my leadership book, Géraldine was responsive and hand-holding. Throughout writing, her editing process left you in no doubt what could change and she was invariably right! This was always done in a way though that allowed you to reflect on your writing and take a considered approach to a re-shaping of the document or chapter. I have no hesitation in recommending Géraldine.” (Lucy Ryan, author of 'Lunchtime Learning for Leaders')

"Géraldine reached out to me with an idea and title for a book, worked with me on the proposal and got it accepted for publication. It is now a bestseller. Géraldine worked tirelessly throughout, encouraging and helping me - a total novice unconfident writer - to get the book finished and actually made the process fun and enjoyable! Géraldine really knows what works, what will sell, what won’t and was so kind and helpful. I can’t recommend working with Géraldine enough and hope that we can do more together soon and in the future!" (Erica Stanford, author of 'Crypto Wars')

"Working with Géraldine has been a pleasure. From proposal where she sought me out, took time to get to know what I really cared about & helped draft a meaningful & authentic proposal for Kogan Page - which then became Demanding More. As a first time author, Géraldine’s guidance & feedback was key, whilst still giving me the room to come into my own author voice. Thanks to her, 'Demanding More' is what it is - a piece of work I am incredibly proud of and one of The Financial Times’ best books of the summer ‘21. I would absolutely recommend Géraldine & would love to work with her again." (Sheree Atcheson, author of 'Demanding More')

"I have worked with Géraldine for several years as my commissioning editor. She has been a very valuable sounding board, helping to shape 'The Agile Leader' into a book that has sold so well I was asked to write a second edition! Géraldine is so positive, responsive, professional and insightful - and easy to work with, which has been great." (Simon Hayward, author of 'The Agile Leader')
