Work experience

Ebury Publishing/Penguin Random House

Jan, 2008 — Present

I was head hunted by Ebury, a non-fiction division of Random House, with the remit of heading up a team and creating a commercial fiction list from scratch. In 2013 I was promoted to Publishing Director and took over responsibility for our SFF list Del Rey as well as Ebury Press. I published the genre-busting THE MARTIAN on Del Rey and THE LIBRARIAN OF AUSCHWITZ on Ebury Press, which is one of the top selling paperbacks of 2019 and number 1 book in translation.

Piatkus Books

Oct, 1998 — Dec, 2007 (about 9 years)

I joined Piatkus with the remit of expanding their newly launched mass-market paperback list. Authors I acquired included international bestseller Nora Roberts as well as discovering new British writers including Dorothy Koomson, Trisha Ashley and the late Melissa Nathan. I also successfully launched a list of paranormal romance in the UK and export markers. In March 2006 I was asked to become a director of the newly formed Piatkus board. In the summer of 2007 Hachette bought Piatkus as part of Little, Brown and in the Autumn I was recruited by Ebury.

Harlequin Mills & Boon

Mar, 1993 — Oct, 2008 (over 15 years)

I joined Harlequin as an editorial assistant and within eight months was promoted to the role of
Commissioning Editor. I worked primarily on two of Harlequin’s contemporary romance
series as well as the general commercial fiction imprint MIRA.
