Fran Fabriczki – Editor

Editor with 4+ years of experience at HarperCollins and 3+ years freelance. Open to all genres.

Overview

Hi there,

I’m Fran, a freelance editor, formerly in-house at HarperCollins Publishers. Throughout my career I’ve worked on over 300 books, in a wide variety of genres. Although my specialties are historical and literary fiction, I’m always keen to have a look at other genres too.

I have an English degree from the University of Cambridge, which gave me a great grounding in analyzing literature, while at HarperCollins I've had the chance to work on some amazing books by big brand authors. I had the chance to hone my editorial skills on the job, as well as through rigorous industry-standard training in copy-editing and proofreading.

I can help get your manuscript into the best shape possible, in the following ways:

Developmental Editing:
My favourite part of the process! I’ve worked on beautiful books such as Entanglement by Katy Mahood, The Light at the End of the Day by Eleanor Wasserberg, and the bestselling Three Things About Elsie by Joanna Cannon. I love digging deep into a manuscript to see what’s working and what’s not, and asking the difficult questions about the work's structure. Most authors know the answers to the problems in the manuscript, they just need an editor to highlight the issues and ask the right questions. That’s what I’m here for.

Copy Editing:
I love to get into the nitty gritty of grammar and formatting, to make sure that a manuscript is in the best shape possible before it's sent out.

Proofreading:
A daily part of my job, and an essential element of the process. I can make sure your readers are engrossed in your lovingly crafted story, rather than giggling over an awkwardly split word.

Whatever it is you need help with, I'm happy to discuss and tailor my work to your needs, so do get in touch!

Utilising the knowledge gained during my 5 years working in-house, I now provide a wide variety of editorial services on a freelance basis.
