Overview
I develop very close relationship with my authors' writing, and in my editing, I do my best to help authors understand how readers will interact with their writing. I know how to work with an author to make a manuscript about any topic–even the most intimidating–compelling, understandable, and readable. My goal is to help authors find their voices and speak clearly to readers.
What authors have to say about working with me:
"This is amazing and so thorough. I appreciate the new voice the edit brings to the work and the attention to making it reader-friendly and easier to understand."
"It has been an honor and a great privilege to work with development editor Erin M. Thank you, Erin, for bringing your talents, insight, expertise, and humor to the project ."
" I am also in a continual state of awe and gratitude to Erin M., my development editor and friend. Thanks, Erin, for all your outstanding help and advice."
"The authors wish to express our deep appreciation and admiration to development editor Erin M., in particular, who provided excellent editing and worked very closely with us on the manuscript and format."
Erin, You did such a beautiful job recognizing this book's vision and keeping it alive. Thank you for your talent, heart, and energy."

Work experience
Self-employed
In a freelance capacity, I work with various text and trade publishers to: manage first edition and revision editorial assessment, planning, and development; develop text and media content; conduct review rounds, research markets, plan and mediate focus groups, assist with sales and/or acquisition efforts; and develop and execute marketing and market development plans.
Before I struck out on my own as a freelancer, I worked in-house as an editorial assistant, sales rep, acquisitions editor, and executive editor. I have been a development editor for about 20 years.
