Work experience

Self-employed

Feb, 2015 — Present

For the past 5 years I have been proofreading and editing a multitude of fictional manuscripts and non-fictional documents for several publishing companies, providing the authors with detailed and helpful feedback.
I also proofread and copy-edit academic journals for a couple of publishing companies, with every piece of work being completed to a high standard and on time.
I also compile comprehensive indexes: always following the accompanying brief and completing the indexes by the deadline.

North Staffordshire Press

Mar, 2013 — Aug, 2018 (over 5 years)

I edited and proofread an array of books, including several historical books, children’s books, fictional, religious and football related publications, along with a couple of autobiographies and walking books. For each publication it was essential that communication between me and the author was maintained, this enabled the author’s input to be included at every stage of the publishing process.
It was also my duty to create and publish a bi-monthly newsletter which contained articles, with some written by myself, on upcoming publications and local publishing events, with any other news readers may find interesting.

I began to learn how to index and learnt how to adapt and improve my communication skills, whilst acquiring essential administrative and editorial skills.
