Sally Bend is a queer reviewer, editor, and author, and proud owner of the Bending the Bookshelf book review blog since 2010. Although shy and polite (she is, after all, Canadian), she loves the bold and boisterous expression of stories that bend the binaries of gender and sexuality.
Reason for blogging
More than anything, it came about as a desire to share the stories I was enjoying, and to hopefully bring them to the attention of other readers. 8 years doesn't seem that long ago, but it's an eternity when it comes to the internet and social media.
LGBTQIA voices, especially transgender or non-binary voices, were neither as popular nor as easy to find. I was doing a ton of research of obscure websites and newsgroups, building book lists for myself, and decided to share that with the community.
