7 months agoHi, @jillstanish! Great question :) We had tried to show what happened to the kids via the 2 page 4 comic picture at the beginning of Chapter 2 (i.e. Camp fire with kids and their parents singing together -> bear attack -> kids fleeing -> jump on raft which takes them deep into the mountains), but it's the only time we didn't explicitly use text to explain something so the precedent wasn't there. I thought your feedback was a very on point and a good learning point for my artist and I!
In future tales, the children and NOLO won't always be the same. As an example, in the next one the main characters are a Desert NOLO and a Jungle NOLO paired with a brother/sister. However, I could definitely see a world where our old friends reappear, have sidekick roles, or even we show more of their engagements with the kids they rescue.
Thank you about my dad! He was such a special human and I feel incredibly privileged to be able to carry on his legacy with the NOLO.
