Abruptly, that family uproots her from Mirte and leads her on an inevitable but treacherous journey to Doman: the previous site of unspeakable Human atrocities and the current home of Dwarvenkind. Though Doman offers Tair new definitions of family and love, it also reveals to her that her very existence is founded in lies. Now, tasked with an awful responsibility to the Humans of Sossoa, Tair must decide where her loyalties lie and, in the process, discover who she wants to be... And who she has always been.
In their debut fantasy novel Where the Rain Cannot Reach, Adesina Brown constructs a world rich with new languages and nuanced considerations of gender and race, ultimately contemplating how, in freeing ourselves from power, we may find true belonging.

Editorial Reviews
Review
"Where the Rain Cannot Reach is a riveting tale that deserves a spot in any fantasy or epic adventure collection." -D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review
"I can undoubtedly compare this book with a good meditation session. It rips open the prejudices we hide behind, exposing the bruises of lies we have been told. Then it is allowed to heal, making us a new whole." -Readers' Favorite

- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2022What a beautifully written story of such depth and meaning. I am not one to read fantasy, but I truly could not put this book down. The characters are so well-written in a way that makes the intricacies of the plot easy to keep track of, allowing you to fully feel immersed in the happenings of Tair’s world. I appreciate the care evident in developing each character – they each contain many complexities and ambiguities, reflective of life rather than occupying a good vs. evil binary. If you enjoy dreaming of new futures beyond existing social and political structures, stories in which one explores their sense of self in new contexts, and layered and imaginative world building… Where the Rain Cannot Reach will exceed any and all expectations! I continue to return to quotes I highlighted while reading, and can already tell that this is a novel that will stay with me for years to come. I would recommend Where the Rain Cannot Reach to anyone, and can’t wait to read book two!
