Not for me 😔

This is a mixed bag of aphorisms to help you on your journey through life.

Synopsis

For those willing to accomplish more in life.
Aphorisms in this book - Insightful views and wisdom in vibrant and bright form of narrative writing. All thoughts are in a single example.

****Elena Klichova’s new book is chocked full of short statements that can help you improve your life. Perfect for turning to a page and reading an aphorism in the morning to remember and try to live by for the day. Everyone can use a little help in finding that perfect balance in their life.
Terri Rives Swann

****Elena is able to create a series of wonderfully simple meditations that extend deep into the heart of the human condition and inspire our quest for fulfilled living. These "150 Aphorisms" are reminiscent of the timeless wisdom of the great philosophers, such as Confucius and Aristotle, which resonates in the mind and peacefully transforms one's daily routine. Her honesty and transparency as a writer clearly shines through each and every carefully chosen word, allowing the reader to feel a special sense of openness within and a connection to the greater humanity as a whole.
Caesar Cantone

Each page in this book is a one-sentence aphorism. Some pages are thought-provoking and some are quiet little prompts that could start the reader on an entirely new area of study. Specifically, I appreciate the latter - they hold real value. I can't say, though, that the quality is consistent throughout the book; poor grammar has the effect of scrambling a few of the messages to the point that I have to guess what the author might be trying to say.

I could look past the grammar issues, since they are not present on every page - in fact, far from it - and based on content alone, I would have given this book three stars. However, I dropped a star when I reached the last page with its promise of free gifts in return for the ten best positive reviews. While I understand that the author is trying to drive sales and publicity, to do so through promise of compensation for only the positive reviews reveals the author's lack of confidence in their own work, and it invites reviewers to be complicit in duping potential readers/buyers.

However - readers can trust this honest review. To summarize, most pages have value and some pages offer surprising prompts that direct the seeker to new areas of mental and spiritual exploration. Some are not easy to understand due to grammar and word choice issues.

I read this in one sitting for review purposes, but I would think the ideal way to use the book would be to read one page per day, either in order or chosen at random, as part of your journaling or daily reflection time.
