The Wild Adventure of Mitch and the Sand Bridge Kindle Edition
Inspired by the Sandbridge area of Virginia Beach...
Welcome to summer vacation! The time for good memories, great beaches, and — invasions?
Beach vacations are supposed to be fun. They’re meant to bring the family together. But for 13-year-old Mitch, it’s not that easy, not when his father recently passed away. It also doesn’t help that the island he’s staying at gets invaded by alien octopus, turning the quaint beach town into a war zone.
Venturing through pirate ships, hidden coves, mysterious gateways, and a cave of nightmares, Mitch will quickly learn that he plays a vital role in this invasion. If he wants to save his family and defeat the terrifying source of this calamity, Mitch must put aside his grief and turn into the son his dad always knew he could be.
Join this wild, fantasy adventure where a boy’s world gets turned upside down, leaving him only two options: become the hero or — GAME OVER.

Meet the Characters
Mitch — the Hero
"On top of riding bikes, one of Mitch’s favorite pastimes is yelling at runners. No matter what insult you hurl their way, they can’t hear you since they have headphones on (most likely blaring upbeat music because they’re too weak to exercise with just their thoughts)."
Josh — Big Bro
"The level of authority in his voice is undermined by the crackling in his seventeen-year-old developing manhood. With a shaven head and cut like a middleweight fighter, he looks like he should be driving a Mustang, not a minivan.”
Bek — Big Sis
“Punk music blasts from the headphones pulled over her box-dyed auburn hair. Crime and Punishment sits on her lap. For a fifteen-year-old girl already smaller than Mitch, she has the gusto.”
Mom
“When she worked at the hospital, she didn’t simply focus on healing the sick from illness; she wanted to heal their souls as well. She saw the hospital as more of a baptism than a bandaid.”

- Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2023I loved reading this book to my kids. As an adult, I felt the nostalgia for those days but it was never heavy handed. The mystery progresses well and kept the kids asking to “read the next chapter!!!” We’ve already read it a couple of times and plan on reading it again. We loved the characters and the action.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2023I really enjoyed reading this, it reminded me a lot of books I read as a kid. I enjoyed that the kids had to worry about an invasion. It worked well overall and had a charm to it. I enjoyed how well the fantasy elements worked with how the story was set. The characters felt like their ages and I'm glad I got to read this. Zach Hawrot does a wonderful job writing this and leaving me wanting more.
