The Ultimate Guide to Fishing Fun!: More Jokes, cartoons, tips, trivia, and laughs than you can shake a pole at! by Steve Lee is divided into four sections. Section 1: "Fun, Funny, Tips & Trivia," opened with cartoons. They weren't super comical, but I did smirk.Â
This section spoke of crankbaits. Since I am not a fisherwoman, I had no idea what it was, but I imagine avid fishers would know it. There were many "Pro Tips," which would benefit newbies to the sport. Things like choosing the right fishing line, the best time to fish, and what to set your reel's drag. There was a discussion on which fly rod is best, "Summer Steelhead vs Winter Steelheads," "Ice Fishing Safety," "Riverboat Safety Tips," techniques for fishing yellowtail, and much more. Every tip and trick is handy for those stepping into the fishing world. Even pros might learn a thing or two.Â
This story is jammed-packed with cartoons: "The day the worms fought back," and the expression of the drinking mosquito was amusing. The several images of big-chested women nearly falling out their tops were not. I could've done without the shark holding up a clerk with a gun. That was in poor taste. The "Your Girlfriend - "My Girlfriend" page was unnecessary.Â
As a trivia buff, I love learning "Interesting Facts." The "Did you know" was enlightening, but I walked away from the book clueless about what a Carolina Rig looked like. Again, to draw people to the sport, less is not more! I did love the page dedicated to "Fishing Knots." With this guide and practice, I'm sure anyone can master these knots in no time!Â
There was a lot of helpful information in the book. I liked the information a thousand times more than the comics. I recommend this book to those looking to participate in the sport or who love to fish. Â
