Carnivals are a big attraction for families, filled with rides, music, games, and many food trucks. It's usually the high point of many summer vacations.
The Perfect Prize: How Jesus Showed Me The Way is a religious-based children's book that takes place at a local carnival. As you would imagine, the young child in the story is eager to explore everything the fair offers. The little girl soared high on the aerial swings, blasted down the track on a roller coaster, ate sugary treats, and took her chances on various games. She was having a fabulous time until she realized she lost her parents. This is a parent's and child's worst nightmare!
Though the young girl was afraid, she remembered what her mom and dad taught her: to turn to God in times of need. So, she prayed and asked for help, and help did come! A friendly bystander took her to a policeman and her frightened family.
While the lady in the story was a nice person with good intentions, some strangers have evil intentions. The Perfect Prize opens the door for parents to discuss what to do if they ever face this scenario. I would revisit "stranger danger" with young listeners.

The illustrations were bright and colorful, but the drawings looked off on several pages. For instance, on page five, the little girl's feet looked backwards or her head his. There were other feet issues, but I noted other inconsistencies too.
Drawings aside, this book was an uplifting read that ideal for religious homes and schools. I recommend this story for children two years and older.
